Cover Artist Announced for
16th Annual LeMoyne Chain of Parks Art Festival
Tallahassee’s Premier Fine Art Festival
TALLAHASSEE–Artist Jenny Odom will be the cover artist for the 2016 LeMoyne Chain of Parks Art Festival. Her work will grace the cover of the official Chain of Parks program and poster, in addition to being featured on many of the festival souvenirs that will be offered for sale. Odom grew up in Tallahassee. She has been a working artist for more than 14 years, but remembers having a passion for art since she was young.
“When I was a child, I always doodled, drew cartoons and sketched,” Odom said. When asked what inspired her to be an artist, she replied “I was not inspired by any one artist, but rather I was drawn to life as an artist.”
Odom lived and worked in both Arizona and Florida for an ad agency and newspapers. Her artwork is colorful, playful and takes you on a journey. She now lives in Apalachicola and currently owns her own gallery called Iggyart at Bowery Station. Odom’s cover art, “Tally Town,” is a special commissioned piece exclusively for LeMoyne and the festival. “I was a first-timer at Chain of Parks during the 2015 show,” she explained. “Near the end of the first day Kelly Dozier, Festival Director, came by and talked to me about my work. She explained she was part of the committee to select next year’s cover artist. I was happy when the committee contacted me about using one of my landscapes for the artwork.”
The idea for the cover art came about when Odom was asked to create a piece involving Tallahassee landmarks. After producing three or four versions of the unnamed painting, Sheri Sanderson, Festival Manager, recommended the title “Tally Town”. “I thought it was the perfect name,” Odom said.
The 16th Annual LeMoyne Chain of Parks Art Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 16-17, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Bloxham, Lewis and Randolph Parks located in the Downtown Chain of Parks.
